About Us

MISSION STATEMENT

We believe that through photography and skillful interpretation we can observe and change the social stigma surrounding the UFO question and finally answer: Are we alone in the universe? with an astounding NO. Through embracing the folklore and mysteries of the desert southwest we can spread a fun and informative enthusiasm for space, the final frontier.

CALL TO ACTION!

The Utah UFO Festival is currently a 501c3 nonprofit foundation with a solicitation permit that can be viewed upon request. This means that we can ask and take donations from you which you can use for a tax write-off and help us build traction for the organization every year.

Anomaly Conservatory does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.

MEMBERS

These are the members that run Anomaly Conservatory and the Utah UFO Fest with planning, organizing and research. We are investigators, activists, and above all, UFO Enthusiasts.

Nathan Arizona – Founder

Nathan Arizona (formerly Cowlishaw) is a pro-photographer of the American Southwest. He has spent the majority of his life traveling the desert landscapes, networking with Native American communities, and photographing the beautiful lands of America.  He was a national parks interpreter and tour guide in the tourism industry for nearly a decade. Now he combines that with UFO tours.

In 2013 he witnessed his first close encounter with Orange Orbs on Extraterrestrial Highway in Southern Nevada near Area 51 and experienced two more close encounters between 2014 and 2015 near Dulce, New Mexico and Marfa, Texas. He is now dedicating part of his life to researching and educating the public about the UFO phenomenon. He says; “building this festival from the ground up has been a passion of mine that started out as a dream, an idea.”  He wishes to open up the dialogue in his community to fight the stigma associated with Ufology.

Nathan is a a Sociology major at Southern Utah University and has a deep interest in Community Engagement. Also when time allows, he is traveling to various UFO Conferences to network and is doing photography for them.

Joseph Cowlishaw – Co Founder

Joe enjoys the culture around the UFO phenomenon. It is interesting to see how far it has come in regards to Hollywood and comicon type hype.  Joe has stated that he enjoyed exploring the UFO phenomenon with his brother Nathan over the years and it has really helped him form a deeper connection with the Desert Southwest.

He loves the mysterious aspect of it and loves the hunt for clues. He states; “I believe that we are one of countless worlds that swirl about in our vast universe. I know we are not alone. I have not experienced a phenomenon first hand per-se, but I do believe in life existing elsewhere.”

Joseph chose to start the UFO Fest with his brother, Nate because it was fun. It is exciting to meet new people and generate interest in something that has remained so taboo. His goal for the fest is to grow it to be “family friendly” and incorporate a comicon experience but with the real truth that we are not alone.

Joe currently reside in Cedar City with a wife and five children.

Enoch Segmiller – Community Networker

Enoch has been with Anomaly Conservatory working with the Cowlishaw Brothers non-stop and is very dedicated to building the local economy in Cedar City. He is a Cedar City native and works as general manager for the El-Rey Inn and Stratford Motels and is a natural in the hospitality segment of the tourism industry. He enjoys networking and bringing people together through community engagement and ha been an indispensable contributor in helping get the festival off the ground every year.

Maddy Newby – St. George Correspondent

Maddy is a St. George native and likes to go on adventures. She is passionate about the UFO phenomenon. For quite sometime she didn’t actually believe in UFOs but one day came to the conclusion that they have to be real. Since that day, she has been deeply interested in the phenomenon. She has said; “I am excited to be a part of this organization and meet others who believe.”

Maddy is new to the organization and we are excited to have her on-board and will be in charge of the St. George area regarding organization affairs down there.

Tim Nesmith – Radio & Communications Specialist

Tim has been a local radio voice in Southern Utah for decades now and is currently a big personality for KSUB and Cherry Creek Radio in Southern Utah. He is interested in the stories surrounding UFO Folklore and loves to venture out with the UTAH UFO Fest when we go to visit our friends, Pat and Connie, owners of the Little A’Le’Inn in Rachel, Nevada, near Area 51.

We appreciate his help and dedication to helping us with building the festival every year and bolstering the local community with interesting content on the Big Picture Show every morning as well as inviting us as festival organizers to come and speak on-air about UFOs, the festival, and what’s on the agenda. Tim, you are the MAN!
